UPS to buy TNT Express for 5.16 billion Euros

Well it looks like there is going to be one less player in the package shipper business in Europe.  UPS announced today that Netherland’s based TNT had accepted their bid offer, marking a move that will position the UPS group as a major market leader.

From the TNT side:

“This combination will significantly enhance the capabilities of two strong companies. I am convinced that together we will be the supplier and employer of choice in the express delivery industry,” said TNT Express Chief Executive Marie-Christine Lombard.
